Are you passionate about live music and community engagement? Do you have leadership skills and a desire to help shape the future of one of Canada’s largest free-admission music festivals? Peterborough Musicfest is seeking a dedicated volunteer Director to join our Board of Directors and contribute to our continued success.
About Peterborough Musicfest
Since 1987, Peterborough Musicfest (PMF) has been a cornerstone of summer in Peterborough, offering free-admission concerts every Wednesday and Saturday evening. Our stage has hosted iconic artists such as Dallas Green (City and Colour), Metric, Terri Clark, Walk Off the Earth, Tegan & Sara, and many more. With over three decades of success, we’ve become one of the largest festivals of our kind in Canada, generating over $4.3 million in local economic activity.
What We’re Looking For
We are currently seeking a Director for a three-year term, with the option for a second term, beginning in February 2025. The ideal candidate will be passionate about live music and community initiatives, offering their time and skills to support strategic and financial planning, governance, and the continued growth of the festival.
This role involves a time commitment of approximately 25 hours per year, divided between attending board meetings, committee meetings, and visits to the park during specified concert nights. The Director will provide guidance to the executive team and the Executive Director, ensuring thoughtful planning, decision-making, and oversight at the governance level.
Your Impact
As a Director, you will contribute to the development of Peterborough Musicfest’s long-term strategic goals and help ensure that the festival’s vision aligns with its mission. You will offer valuable insights into governance and financial oversight, promoting fundraising efforts and community outreach. Directors also act as advocates for the festival, helping to foster relationships with donors, sponsors, and community stakeholders while promoting diversity and inclusion throughout the organization. Additionally, you’ll play a role in risk management and public relations, ensuring the festival’s safety and visibility remain a top priority.
Qualifications
We are looking for individuals who have experience in leadership, governance, or non-profit management, though a deep commitment to teamwork, communication, and community engagement is most essential. If you have a passion for music and a desire to be part of a vibrant community event, this role is for you.
